Solenoid Valves in Full Flow

As engineers, we sometimes need that little bit more when it comes to the performance of our engineering components. OK, so this requirement is usually application dependent, but there are plenty examples in industry today that demand performance levels over and above that offered by standard products. And this includes solenoid valves.

With this thought in mind, our engineers here at The Lee Company set about developing the company’s much-heralded IEP series of extended performance valves, which are designed to demonstrate consistency in conditions far more demanding than typical high-speed dispensing applications.

For example, in CubeSat systems for space research, the compact size and fast response of our IEP valves are key factors in optimising the performance of the propulsion system. We can also state with confidence that these valves are ideal for applications in scanning electron microscopes and gas chromatography devices, where the precise control of high-pressure gases is critical. In fact, the robust construction and wide temperature range of IEP valves also make them a perfect pick for medical devices such as cryosurgical instruments, as well as industrial applications where the flow media needs to be heated prior to dispensing.

Available in a 2-way, normally closed, axial flow configuration, our compact IEP solenoid valves feature welded stainless steel construction. Each valve is 100% function tested for performance, and is available with different elastomers (EPDM, FKM and FFKM) to ensure compatibility with a wide range of liquids and gases.

Weighing just 4.7 g, the valves can operate at pressures up to 55 bar and temperatures up to 135°C, with response times as fast as 0.5 ms, thus delivering the ultimate performance in a small, lightweight package. Precisely what we set out to create.
