Job Description:

The Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing and ensuring the accuracy of all assigned accounting functions, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, general ledger, taxation, fixed assets, and accounting for plant and real estate. This role ensures alignment with corporate systems and schedules while achieving departmental objectives. The ideal candidate will possess comprehensive accounting knowledge, strong analytical skills, and proven supervisory experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform, direct, and supervise the consolidation of accounting data and the preparation of statements, reports & summaries utilized for management information. Supervise special financial studies as directed.
  • Coordinate systems and procedures to include electronic data processing; analyze and implement new procedures or modifications; develop controls and related procedures with the objectives of obtaining improved information and detailed and timely reports.
  • Coordinate activities for regular and special audits.
  • Participate in management budget meetings to assist Treasurer in explaining financial data. Work closely with the Treasurer on confidential financial matters and expedite such matters to conclusion when so directed.
  • Examine and interpret unusual data, criteria, system format changes, etc., and advise personnel on procedures.
  • Review daily report and summaries, check controls, reconcile and adjust errors that occur. Organize and supervise the operation of the filing and reference systems pertinent to the department’s procedures.
  • Maintain and handle petty cash deposits and payments.
  • Hire, orient, train, supervise, develop, coach, discipline, conduct performance evaluations, and initiate compensation and position changes for subordinate personnel.

Qualifications:

  • Broad knowledge of the Finance/Accounting discipline
  • Theoretical knowledge equivalent to a 4-year university education.
  • Over 5 years relevant Accounting experience; a CPA is a plus.
  • Supervisory experience of a staff of Finance employees.
  • Position requires intense mental/visual attention during review and analysis of financial data.
