Lee U Training Programs: The Lee Company offers a wide range of training programs to support the learning and development needs of our employees. These training programs are designed to develop both knowledge and technical manufacturing skills in our Advanced Manufacturing Fundamentals. Here are the current courses offered:

Lee U Education Programs: These programs will provide employees with access to a range of learning opportunities that can help them develop new skills, improve their performance, and advance their careers. These education programs include:

Manufacturing Orientation Program

This program is designed for the newly hired Production employees at The Lee Company. This 3-day course covers the basics of what The Lee Company does and how each new hire is a part of the whole manufacturing process.  

New employees will learn about the following:

  • Each division and the products designed for various markets
  • “Lee Terminology” – over the last 75+ years, our team has come up with a number of unique Lee terms
  • The Lee Company’s Quality Standards
  • Shop Communication Overview
  • Manufacturing Safety Rules & Guidance
  • Math & Measuring Skills
  • Blueprint Reading

Basic Manufacturing Fundamentals Training

The Lee Company’s Basic Manufacturing Fundamentals Training is a prerequisite for: Inspection Fundamentals, Manufacturing Machinist Fundamentals, and the CNC Programming Fundamentals courses.

Basic Manufacturing Fundamentals lays the foundation of manufacturing in a 9-week course of online and instructor led topics. Topics are taught in a classroom environment and in a Tool Room or Inspection Room setting. Not only will the students learn from The Lee Company instructors, but they will also attend manufacturing courses at The Lee Company, taught by Goodwin University’s Manufacturing Training Program.

Employees will enhance their knowledge and skills learning more about:

  • Quality & Quality Systems
  • Calibration
  • Blueprint and Engineering Drawing Reading (including an Introduction GD&T)
  • Dimensioning and Tolerancing
  • Metrology
  • Manufacturing Shop Math and Units of Measurement
  • Introduction to Hydraulics and Pneumatics including Safety

Inspection Fundamentals Training

For those employees who want to enhance their skills and knowledge in quality inspection, The Lee Company has a follow-on 8-week Inspection Fundamentals Training Program.  This program consists of online, and instructor-led topics and discussions in both a classroom setting and in the Inspection room.

Students will enhance their knowledge and skills learning more about:

  • Advanced Blueprint and Engineering Drawing Reading
  • Inspecting with Optical Comparators
  • Inspecting with Automatic Inspection Equipment
  • Inspecting Cylindrical Parts
  • Hole Standards and Inspection
  • Thread Standards and Inspection
  • Surface Texture and Inspection
  • Statistics

Manufacturing Machinists Fundamentals Training

This program is designed for those employees who want to learn more about being a CNC Machinist and Operator to enhance their skills in this trade.  This 8-week program is designed to teach students about lathes and/or mills and how to safely operate these machines to produce parts. This program consists of both online and instructor led topics and discussions in both a classroom setting and in the Tool Room setting.

Students will enhance their knowledge and skills learning more about:

  • Metal Cutting Theory and Safety
  • Various Metal Cutting Processes
  • Overview of Machine Tools
  • Workholding
  • Metal Cutting Fluids
  • Basics of Mills and Lathes
  • Introduction and History of CNC Machines
  • Control Functions of Mills and Lathes

CNC Programming Fundamentals Training

This 8-week program is targeted towards both entry-level machine operators and experienced machine operators looking to develop their setup and programming skillset. This program consists of online, and instructor led topics and discussions in a classroom setting. Students will also be able to practice their skills and knowledge with the use of the FANUC Certified Education CNC Training Courses and Fanuc CNC Simulators that are setup in the classroom.

Students will enhance their knowledge and skills by learning about the ten key concepts from the FANUC Certified Education CNC Training courses. Six concepts are programming related and four are set up and operation related. The goal is for students to understand the ten basic principles. At that point, a student is well on their way to becoming a proficient CNC user.

Advanced Manufacturing Toolmaker Training Program

This program is designed for employees who want to enhance their knowledge and skills towards becoming a Toolmaker in a Tool Room in the future. This 18 to 20 week program is designed to teach students about the Tool Room environment, how to safely operate the machinery and equipment, and to provide an advanced level of understanding of all the processes involved. This program consists of online, and instructor led topics and discussions in both a classroom setting and Tool Room setting.
