The Lee Company Hosts 2022 Award Ceremony for Scholarship Fund Recipients

The Lee Company hosted it’s annual awards ceremony for recipients of The Lee Scholarship Fund on June 14, 2022. This year, 57 children of Lee employees received a total of $255,500 in scholarships. President and CEO Bill Lee, along with former President Leighton Lee IIII, presented the awards to the recipients and their families at The Lee Company’s Training Center in Westbrook, CT. In addition to the ceremony, The Walter Tischbein Scholarship Fund – established in 2017 by The Lee Company in memory and honor of Vice President, Walter Tischbein – awarded four grants presented by Mr. Tischbein’s widow, Dawn Tischbein. Dotty Weston-Murphy, Senior Vice President of Development and Donor Services for The Community Foundation for Greater New Haven (CFGNH), addressed the gathering on behalf of the CFGNH.

The Lee Scholarship Fund was established in 1999 by the founders of The Lee Company, Leighton Lee II and Marietta F. Lee, to assist with higher education tuition for the children and spouses of company employees. The Lee family places a high value on education and strives to help employees meet the rising costs of education. Since the fund’s inception, over $2 million has been awarded in scholarships. Thanks to the contributions of Lee family members and employees of The Lee Company, and through careful stewardship by CFGNH, the fund now has a principal balance of over $5 million dollars.
