LPD Series Variable Volume Precision Dispense Pump

This stepper motor-driven positive displacement pump provides unparalleled reliability and performance at an economical price. With this variable volume pump, you can aspirate an accurate volume of fluid and dispense that fluid volume out in smaller, highly precise increments. Standard models are available with full dispense volumes of 50, 250, 1000, and 3000 µL, and with ¼-28 ports in either a PEEK or PMMA (acrylic) port head. Featuring a flexible and maintenance-free design, it can be positioned in the ideal fluidic location within a system, regardless of accessibility. All designs are equipped with a home sensor to establish end of stroke. High performance models are offered with integrated backlash compensation and an optical motor encoder to provide feedback on piston movement. Each pump is 100% tested to guarantee performance. Customization options are available.

1Operating the pumps at higher speeds may affect dispense accuracy and life expectancy. The pumps may be operated in full-step, half-step, or micro-step mode, depending on the electrical drive design and application parameters. Refer to the individual pump's inspection drawing for additional specifications such as harmonic frequency, etc.

Electrical Operation
  • Pumps are equipped with a two-phase bipolar motor.
  • Home sensors provide a 5 V end of stroke indication; the sensor output will remain low (0 VDC) when the piston is fully extended.
  • Encoders are two-channel, quadrature (no index pulse) designs.
Performance Graphs
Flow rate and velocity profile: 50 µL model. Demonstrates a complete aspirate and dispense cycle utilizing the pump’s max recommended speed and acceleration. A 30 ms valve delay between aspirating and dispensing allows the inlet and outlet valves to respond before the pump’s piston changes direction. This profile showcases just one application of the pump, it can also aspirate and dispense in finer increments and at varying speeds, dependent on your application parameters. Fluidic Connections: Port Head Pump Configurations
The standard port head contains two threaded ¼-28 flat bottom ports used to connect the system to the pump. Customized port heads are available upon request and may include alternative materials, valves mounted directly to the port head, or different fluidic ports.
