The Lee Company Hosts an Award Ceremony for Scholarship Fund Recipients

On June 16, 2021, The Lee Company hosted an awards ceremony for recipients of The Lee Scholarship Fund, where 57 children of Lee employees received a total of nearly $300,000 in scholarships. The recipients and their families gathered at The Lee Company’s Training Center in Westbrook, CT where President and CEO Bill Lee and former President Leighton Lee III presented the awards to the students. In addition, The Walter Tischbein Scholarship Fund – established in 2017 by The Lee Company in honor of deceased Vice President, Walter Tischbein – awarded two grants presented by Mr. Tischbein’s widow, Dawn Tischbein, at the ceremony. Dotty Weston-Murphy, Senior Vice President of Development and Donor Services for The Community Foundation for Greater New Haven (CFGNH), addressed the gathering on behalf of the CFGNH.

The Lee Scholarship Fund was established in 1999 by the founders of The Lee Company, Leighton Lee II and Marietta F. Lee, to assist with higher education tuition for the children and spouses of company employees. The Lee family places a high value on education and strives to help employees meet the rising costs of education. Since the fund’s inception, over $1.8 million has been awarded in scholarships. Thanks to the contributions of Lee family members and employees of The Lee Company, and through careful stewardship by CFGNH, the fund now has a principal balance of over $5 million dollars.
