CONVERSION FACTORS – VOLUME TO MASS OF WATER AT 39.2°F (4°C)

NOTE: To apply these factors to fluids with a specific gravity other than 1.0, these factors must be multiplied by the actual specific gravity.

EXAMPLE
Determine the flow rate in lb./hr., which is equivalent to 430 mL/min. The fluid is MIL-H-5606 (the specific gravity is 0.84).

\[430\;\frac{\text{mL}\ }{\text{min}\ }\times\ 2.20\times10^{-3}\ \;\frac{\text{lb}\ }{\text{mL}\ }\times\ 0.84\ \times\ \frac{\text{60}\ \text{min}}{\text{1}\ \text{hr}}=47.8\ \frac{\text{lb}_\text{m}\ }{\text{hr}\ }\]

EXAMPLE
Determine the volume in gallons which would be occupied by 3.0 kg of sea water (specific gravity is 1.02).
